The Montverde Academy girls basketball team opened play at the Martin Luther King Classic with a 67–60 win over Bartlett High School on Saturday evening in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jordan Speller led all scorers with 24 points, providing a strong offensive spark as the Eagles improved to 12–2 on the season.

Montverde Academy will continue tournament action on Monday, facing Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in its second game of the Classic. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
