Powered by championship performances from Cali Flowers and Colby Reish, the Montverde Academy girls weightlifting team finished sixth out of 10 teams in both the Olympic and Traditional divisions at the FHSAA Regional Championship Meet on Saturday morning at Frostproof High School in Frostproof, Florida.
Flowers and Reish each earned state championship qualifications, with Flowers capturing two individual regional titles and Reish claiming an Olympic regional championship in a highly competitive field.
At the regional level, Olympic lifting is scored by an athlete's best snatch plus best clean & jerk, while Traditional lifting is determined by the best bench press plus best clean & jerk.
Flowers Sweeps 199-Pound Class
Senior Cali Flowers delivered a dominant performance in the 199-pound weight class, winning first place in both Olympic and Traditional lifting to earn individual regional championships in each discipline.
Flowers posted a 285-pound Olympic total, highlighted by a best snatch of 130 pounds and a successful 155-pound clean & jerk. She followed with a 290-pound Traditional total, recording a best bench press of 135 pounds along with the same clean & jerk mark.
Her performance stood as one of the top overall showings of the meet and secured her place at the FHSAA State Championship Meet.
Teammate Ella Drawdy also competed in the 199-pound class, contributing totals of 175 pounds in Olympic and 190 pounds in Traditional.
Reish Wins Olympic Title, Finishes Fourth in Traditional
Colby Reish turned in a standout performance in the 169-pound weight class, earning first place in Olympic lifting with a 250-pound total. Reish recorded a best snatch of 110 pounds and a 140-pound clean & jerk to secure the regional Olympic championship and her spot at states.
In Traditional lifting, Reish finished fourth overall with a 255-pound total, highlighted by a best bench press of 115 pounds and the same 140-pound clean & jerk. Her combined efforts across both disciplines capped an excellent regional showing.
Contributions Across Multiple Weight Classes
Montverde Academy saw solid performances throughout the lineup:

Sanvhi Gandhi competed in the 101-pound class, totaling 125 pounds (Olympic) and 120 pounds (Traditional).

In the 119-pound class, Edielys Negron recorded 145 (Olympic) and 160 (Traditional), while Angely Acevedo Marquez finished with 155 (Olympic) and 160 (Traditional).

Nicole Sanchez and Brooke Williams represented the Eagles in the 154-pound class, each posting competitive totals in both lifting formats.
As a team, Montverde Academy placed sixth in Olympic lifting and sixth in Traditional lifting, advancing multiple athletes from one of the region's deepest championship fields.
With Flowers and Reish advancing, the Eagles now turn their attention to the FHSAA State Championship Meet, looking to build on a strong and successful regional performance.
