Montverde, Fla. (October 20, 2026) – Montverde Academy boys cross country standout Will Moss continues to set the pace—and raise the standard.
Following his second consecutive victory this year, the senior boys cross country standout has been named Montverde Academy's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 18, 2026. The honor is the sixth of his career, extending his record for the most selections by any MVA student-athlete since the award's inception in fall 2023.
Moss earned his latest recognition by winning the Lake Minneola Last Chance Invitational on Saturday at Lake Minneola High School. He finished first in a field of 164 runners, crossing the finish line in 15:56.0.
The performance also marked his 19th consecutive race as MVA's top finisher, a streak dating back to the final race of his freshman season in 2023.
A member of the Eagles' boys cross country program since fall 2022 as an eighth grader, Moss has built one of the most accomplished careers by a Montverde Academy student-athlete in recent memory. His six Student-Athlete of the Week selections span all four years of high school: one as a freshman in 2023, one as a sophomore in 2024, three as a junior in 2025 and now one as a senior.
His latest victory adds to a résumé that includes a sweep of the FHSAA district, regional and state cross country championships last season. He finished first in four races during that campaign and was named the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 2A Runner of the Year.
Now, he is preparing for another championship pursuit.
Moss returns to competition Wednesday, November 4, at the FHSAA District Championship, where he will seek his third consecutive district title. Later in November, he will look to repeat as both regional and state champion.
His success extends to the track, where he competes in distance events for MVA's boys track & field team. In 2025, Moss captured district championships in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, along with the regional championship in the 3,200 meters.
Committed to Cornell University, where he will join the men's cross country team, Moss still has more to accomplish in an Eagles uniform. With another victory secured and a record sixth weekly honor earned, he heads toward the postseason with momentum—and an opportunity to add another memorable chapter to his MVA career.
**The Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week award is sponsored by the 2026-27 Montverde Academy Booster Club.
