Montverde, Fla. (November 3, 2026) – Montverde Academy girls golfer Cynthia Yang has been named the Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 1 after winning the individual title at the FHSAA Class 1A District 6 championship with a course-record performance.
Yang fired a 7-under-par 65 at Seven Springs Golf & Country Club in New Port Richey, Florida, to finish atop the leaderboard and establish a new course record.
The performance marked her second under-par round of the season. She also shot a 2-under-par 34 at Bella Collina in the Eagles' season-opening meet on September 3.
A member of the girls golf program for the past three years, Yang has helped the Eagles reach historic heights. She was part of the 2024 team that captured the first state championship in program history and tied atop the individual leaderboard at last year's FHSAA State Championship at Mission Inn in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
Yang and the Eagles will look to add another milestone on Wednesday when they compete at Cocoa Beach Country Club in Cocoa Beach, seeking the first regional championship in program history.
**The Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week award is sponsored by the 2026-27 Montverde Academy Booster Club.
