The Montverde Academy boys weightlifting team turned in another strong performance on Monday, finishing first overall in both Olympic and Traditional lifting formats in a three-team meet against Faith Christian Academy and The First Academy.
Montverde Academy totaled 44 points in Olympic lifting (snatch and clean & jerk) and 38 points in Traditional lifting (bench press and clean & jerk), edging out The First Academy (33 Olympic, 34 Traditional) and Faith Christian Academy (19 Olympic, 24 Traditional).
At 119 pounds, Jacob Martinez and Tyler Waters combined for key team points. Martinez recorded an Olympic total of 190 and a Traditional total of 225, while Waters added a 195 Olympic total and a 210 Traditional total to secure valuable placements.
At 129 pounds, Oliver Sari continued Montverde Academy's momentum, posting a 190 Olympic total and a 225 Traditional total. The 139-pound division proved pivotal, as Tristan Milliken and Ethan Seetahal delivered strong lifts across both formats. Seetahal highlighted the class with a 285 Olympic total and a 305 Traditional total, while Milliken added depth with consistent scoring finishes.
In the 154-pound weight class, Elliott Gunasekera and Lukas Walker played a major role in keeping Montverde Academy on top. Gunasekera totaled 235 in Olympic and 270 in Traditional, while Walker followed closely with a 260 Olympic total and a 280 Traditional total.
Montverde Academy continued to score well in the middle weights. At 169 pounds, Jacob Moore and Braden Ray combined efforts, with Moore producing a 250 Olympic total and a 335 Traditional total. At 183 pounds, Quentin Gunasekera and Grant McKee were among the Eagles' top performers of the day. Gunasekera recorded a 320 Olympic total and a 365 Traditional total, while McKee led the division with a 355 Olympic total and a 405 Traditional total.
The upper weight classes sealed the overall victory. Titus Declercq dominated at 199 pounds with a 380 Olympic total and a 395 Traditional total. At 219 pounds, Jianlei Du delivered one of the meet's best performances, finishing with a 410 Olympic total and a 480 Traditional total to secure maximum team points. Zexu Li added to the Eagles' scoring in the heavyweight divisions, contributing points at 238 pounds.
