The Montverde Academy girls basketball team closed out its regular-season home schedule in dramatic fashion, defeating Central Point Christian Academy 84-82 in overtime Thursday evening at The Nest.
The win marked the final home game of the 2025–26 regular season and pushed Montverde Academy to 16-3 overall. The Eagles were perfect at home this season, finishing 5-0 at The Nest.
Missy Odom and Jamila Ray powered the victory with double-doubles. Odom poured in a game-high 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Ray added 22 points and 10 boards. Mia-Elle Lieverst and Kendall Perry also reached double figures, scoring 12 points apiece.
The contest was tightly contested throughout, with neither team leading by more than eight points. The game featured 12 lead changes and nine ties. Montverde Academy held a slim 17-16 advantage after the first quarter and carried a 36-35 lead into halftime. Central Point Christian Academy took control in the third quarter, as Montverde Academy trailed 52-46 heading into the final period.
Despite trailing for much of the fourth quarter, the Eagles connected on clutch shots down the stretch to force overtime. The extra period remained back-and-forth and was ultimately decided on the final possession, sealing a hard-fought home victory for Montverde Academy.
Montverde Academy returns to action on Tuesday, February 17, traveling to face Southeastern Prep at 7:00 p.m.
