The Montverde Academy girls basketball team earned an impressive 62–39 victory over IMG Academy on Thursday evening at The Nest, controlling the game from start to finish.

Montverde Academy set the tone early, racing out to a 14–4 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Eagles continued to dictate play in the second period and took a 23–16 advantage into halftime.

The game's decisive stretch came in the third quarter, as Montverde Academy outscored the Ascenders 19–9 to extend its lead to 42–25 after three periods of play. During the quarter, the Eagles were nearly unstoppable offensively, shooting an outstanding 61.5 percent (8-for-13) from the field.

In her first game back from injury, Missy Odom provided a major boost off the bench, leading the team with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Mia-Elle Lieverst followed with 10 points, while Jordan Speller added nine points and dished out six assists. Jayla Forbes chipped in eight points and five rebounds in the win.

Montverde Academy's depth and interior presence were key factors, as the Eagles held a commanding 38–12 advantage in points in the paint and a 26–6 edge in bench scoring, led by Odom's performance.

With the victory, Montverde Academy improves to 15–3 on the season. The Eagles return to action next Thursday, February 12, when they host Central Pointe Christian Academy at The Nest. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
