MONTVERDE, Fla. (April 16, 2026) — Montverde Academy Athletics will take center stage on Friday as the Eagles host the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2A District 6 Track & Field Championships at Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys Stadium on campus, welcoming some of the top talent in the district to for a highly competitive meet.
MVA will compete against highly talented foes from Atlantic High School, Crooms High School, Lake Highland Prep, Trinity Prep, and Windermere Prep, setting the stage for an incredible championship atmosphere.
With district championships on the line, both girls and boys teams enter the meet with strong seasons behind them and clear goals ahead.
On the girls' side, MVA is chasing history, aiming for its fifth consecutive district championship. The Eagles dominance throughout 2026 has positioned them as favorites once again. MVA claimed first-place finishes at three major invitationals this spring, including the Royal Invitational at The First Academy (Feb. 25), the Dr. Baptiste Invitational at West Orange (March 6), and the prestigious Florida State Relays at Florida State University (March 27–28).
That success has been fueled by standout performances across multiple events. The 4x800 relay team currently ranks No. 1 in FHSAA Class 2A (9:23.93), while the 4x400 relay team sits just .01 seconds off the top spot at No. 2 (3:52.99).
Individually, Jizelle Holland has been one of the state's most dynamic hurdlers, ranking No. 1 in 2A in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.47) and No. 3 in the 100-meter hurdles (14.22). Adriana Rodriguez has also turned in a remarkable season, ranking No. 2 in the state and No. 15 nationally in the 400 meters (53.62), while also placing No. 3 in 2A in the 200 meters (23.98). Angelica Wolfe continues to shine as one of the top middle-distance runners in the country, She is currently ranked No. 2 in FHSAA 2A and No. 2 amongst all middle school athletes in the United States in the 800 meters (2:11.37).
In the pole vault, Julia Saelg (3.66m) and Kylee Brown (3.51m) are both ranked among the top five in the 2A class.
On the boys side, the Eagles are looking to reclaim district glory for the first time since 2023. MVA has consistently improved throughout the season, with team finishes as high as fourth place in competitive invitationals and several individual event victories highlighting their progress.
Samuel Johnson has emerged as the top in the state, currently ranking No. 1 in 2A as well as the entire state of Florida in the triple jump (15.48m), while he is first in 2A and fourth in the state in the long jump (7.33m). Teammate Zydon Furbert has also delivered strong performances on the track, ranking No. 9 in the 400 meters (48.50). Another teammate, Will Moss, ranks first in 2A in the 1600 meters (4:19.66) and third in the 3200 meters (9.25.27).
The first event of the day, girls pole vault, is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m., with the final event of the day, the 4x400 relays, scheduled to go off at approximately 6:30 p.m., followed by the trophy presentations at approximately 7:00 p.m.
With talent across the board and momentum on their side, the Eagles are poised to make a strong push in front of their home crowd.
