Montverde Academy boys weightlifting is set to compete at the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 1A Regional Championships on Thursday, as the Eagles travel to Frostproof Middle-Senior High School looking to continue a strong postseason run.
Leading the group is district champion Grant McKee (183 lbs), who claimed the title in his weight class in both traditional (bench press plus clean & jerk) and Olympic (snatch plus clean & jerk) and heads into regionals with momentum. He will be joined by a talented group of qualifiers who have earned the opportunity to represent MVA: Jacob Martinez (119), Tyler Waters (119), Ethan Seetahal (129), Tristan Milliken (139), Jacob Moore (154), Lukas Walker (154), Quentin Gunasekera (183), Zexu Li (199), and Jianlei Du (219).
Each athlete fought through a competitive district meet to secure their place, and now turns their focus to the regional stage. With a deep and determined lineup, the Eagles will aim to build on their success and push toward state qualification.
