Boys Weightlifting Set for District Championship

The Montverde Academy boys weightlifting team is gearing up for the FHSAA District Championship on Thursday, April 9, at Foundation Academy in Winter Garden, FL. The Eagles enter the meet off a strong regular season that saw the Eagles win four dual meets in Olympic and three in dual meets in traditional, along with a first place finish in a tri-meet.

Several Eagles delivered standout performances across the weight classes, showcasing both strength and depth.

  • 119 pounds: Jacob Martinez led the way in Olympic lifting with a 215-pound total (90 snatch, 125 clean & jerk) and added a 125-pound bench press in Traditional.
  • 129 pounds: Oliver Sari totaled 210 pounds in Olympic (95 snatch, 115 clean & jerk) and recorded 130 pounds in Traditional.
  • 139 pounds: Ethan Seetahal posted a 290-pound Olympic total (125 snatch, 165 clean & jerk), while teammate Tristan Milliken added a 220-pound total.
  • 154 pounds: Lukas Walker lifted a 275-pound Olympic total (120 snatch, 155 clean & jerk).
  • 169 pounds: Jacob Moore swept both disciplines, winning Olympic with a 295-pound total (130 snatch, 165 clean & jerk) and taking Traditional with a 200-pound bench press.
  • 183 pounds: Grant McKee dominated Olympic with a 375-pound total (160 snatch, 215 clean & jerk) and added a 210-pound bench press in Traditional. Quentin Gunasekera contributed a 325-pound Olympic total and a 175-pound bench press.
  • 199 pounds: Titus DeClercq lifted 370 pounds in Olympic (160 snatch, 210 clean & jerk) and 180 pounds in Traditional.
  • 219 pounds: Miguelangel Fernandez Hernandez totaled 205 pounds in Olympic and 145 pounds in Traditional.
  • 238 pounds: Zexu Li earned a first-place finish in Olympic with a 345-pound total (150 snatch, 195 clean & jerk) and recorded a 145-pound bench press.

The Eagles will look to carry this momentum into the district championship, aiming to showcase their strength across every weight class and earn a spot at regionals. With a combination of top-tier individual performances and team depth, MVA is poised for another strong postseason showing.
