The Montverde Academy girls volleyball team concluded play at the Florida Gem High School Classic with a pair of losses during Saturday morning's bracket play.

The Eagles fell to First Baptist Academy in three sets, 15-25, 25-23, 6-15, before dropping a tightly contested match against the Academy of the Holy Names, 23-25, 22-25.

MVA finished the tournament with a 2-3 record and now stands at 7-5 overall this season.

The junior varsity Eagles split their two matches Saturday. MVA fell to East Ridge, 21-25, 23-25, before closing the tournament with a three-set victory over Winter Haven, 21-25, 25-17, 15-9.

The JV team completed the weekend with a 3-2 record and also moved to 7-5 overall this season.

Both teams return to action Tuesday at Hagerty High School. The JV match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity match at 6 p.m.
