Montverde, Fla. (September 22, 2026) – Sophomore boys cross country team member Torr Scelfo has been named the Student-Athlete of the Week after winning the boys race at the Katie Caples Invitational on Saturday.
Scelfo finished first among 80 runners in 17:33, crossing the line 51 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
A member of the Eagles' cross country team since seventh grade, Scelfo qualified individually for the FHSAA state championship race last year and finished in the top 30.
Away from the course, Scelfo participates in Model UN and Eagle Ambassadors. Science is his favorite class, and he hopes to pursue a career in medicine. He says he values MVA for its challenging academics and successful athletics programs.
**The Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week award is sponsored by the 2026-27 Montverde Academy Booster Club.
