Sports Medicine
At Montverde Academy our athletic training staff works under the supervision of Dr. Amit Varma of Florida Sports Injury and Orthopedic Institute, providing medical care to our student-athletes. Our athletic trainers serve as the liaisons between physicians, school nurses, parents, faculty, coaches, and the strength & conditioning staff to ensure proper communication is made in regards to student-athletes' plan of care. The athletic training staff holds treatment hours in The Nest athletic training room during the school day and covers athletic contests during the evening hours.

Our athletic training staff is committed to providing the highest quality health care to all student-athletes
. Injuries are inevitable in the domain of athletics, however, our athletic training staff at Montverde Academy analyze and treat both the short- and long-term health effects of interscholastic competition. We take full consideration of both the physical and mental well-being of the student-athlete in all treatment endeavors. It is our goal to return the student-athlete to a level equal or above that of their pre-injury status.
We will uphold the Mission of Montverde Academy to inspire students to become leaders with a passion for knowledge, global vision and innovation while developing character in a nurturing and diverse community.
Appointments
The Montverde Academy athletic training room operates on an appointment based schedule, aligning with the training schedules of our student-athletes. Athletic training services provided include: medical evaluations, therapeutic interventions as deemed appropriate, recovery therapies and facilitation of return-to-play programs.
Appointments are not required for preventive taping, icing, analgesic ointment use, acute injuries, or medical emergencies. Acute injuries/medical emergencies take priority and do not require an appointment to be seen.
