Montverde Academy Athletics

Omar González, a native of Maine, has over 30 years of experience as a head coach of nationally recognized basketball organizations, an athletic program manager, and elite training at the high school and professional levels. Known as the most successful coach in the history of Puerto Rico Women’s National Team, González led the team to four international Silver medals and three international gold Medals.
Under his tenure, Puerto Rico beat the No.1 team in the world, USA, and the No.6 team in the world, Brazil, for the first time in the National Team’s history. In a span of three years, González took the Puerto Rico Women’s National Team from a No. 44 world ranking to the No. 21 global ranking.

In addition to his success on the court, González earned his Bachelor's Degree in business administration at Inter American University, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. After graduation, he served as an Athletic Director for San Antonio. There he handled day-to-day management and operations of the basketball program and mentored over 500 student-athletes on individual skills and team concepts.

With his vast experience in the basketball field, González looks to further develop the CBD National team to one of the top post-graduate programs in the nation.
