The Montverde Academy boys lacrosse team is coached by Tony Williams. With over 30 years of experience as a player, coach and referee, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the program. After a successful high school career in upstate New York, Tony played college lacrosse at SUNY Cortland where he was 2 time team captain and 3 year starting midfielder. He helped the team advance to the NCAA tournament and was selected as a member of the North-South College All-Star team in 1993. Coach Williams continues to play lacrosse on a men’s club team here in central Florida.

After graduating from college and moving to Florida, Tony began his teaching career in Middle School Physical Education. He has taught for Orange County Public Schools since 1995. From 1995-1998 Coach Williams was the head boys lacrosse coach at West Orange High School. In 1996 he led the team to a Central Florida High School Championship.   Tony also coaches for Team FLC at lacrosse camps and has coached several travel lacrosse teams for Team FLC and for Lacrosse Club Orlando.

On the Youth lacrosse level, Coach Williams was President and coach for Lake Lacrosse Inc. for 5 years. He was instrumental in growing the sport of lacrosse in South Lake County, FL.

Coach Williams is also a certified referee at the college and professional lacrosse levels. He was chosen to referee such college games as the ACC Tournament, AAC Championship, NCAA Men’s Division II Playoffs, Team USA showcase and at the professional level, Major League Lacrosse.

Coach Williams is excited for the opportunity to grow the great sport of lacrosse at Montverde Academy.
