Montverde Academy Athletics

Matt Shewmake is in his first season as the head girls' basketball coach at Montverde Academy.

Before joining the Eagles, he served as head girls' basketball coach with The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee the previous three seasons. In those three seasons, he led the Feet to a 91-11 overall record including three consecutive Tennessee state championships and two national top 10 rankings. In addition to that, he helped one player earn McDonald's All-American status and earn TSSAA Miss Basketball. Six players were also named to the All-Tennessee state team during his tenure.

Prior to that, Shewmake was associate head coach for two years at University of California Riverside where he coached the conference's leading scorer and helped the team earn victories over three of the top teams in the league. Before that, he served as associate head coach for one year at Northwest Florida State, where he helped lead the Raiders to two NJCAA Elite 8 appearances and a Panhandle Conference championship.

Shewmake has also had coaching appointments in an assistant role with California State Fullerton, Middle Tennessee State and Virginia Commonwealth University.

In all, Shewmake has coached nine McDonald's All-American players.
