Anthony Jones is in his first season as head coach of the Montverde Academy girls basketball program in 2025–26 season. He has more than two decades of experience and a legacy of championship success at the high school level. He joined Montverde Academy after nearly 24 years at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, where he began as an assistant coach in 2001 and served as head coach from 2008 through 2025.
During his tenure at Dr. Phillips, Jones built one of the most successful girls basketball programs in the state of Florida and nationally. He led the Panthers to six Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state championships, including championships in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2022, 2023, and 2024. His teams also earned national recognition with High School National Championships in 2011 and 2013, and a national runner-up finish in 2012. Most recently, he guided the program to another state championship game appearance during the 2024–25 season.
Jones’s coaching excellence has earned him numerous accolades, including five Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year awards (2012, 2013, 2022, 2023, 2024) and two National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Florida Coach of the Year honors (2011, 2023). His leadership has consistently produced not only winning teams, but also student-athletes who succeed at the collegiate level and beyond.
