Since arriving at Montverde Academy in February 2022, Michael Damon has transformed Montverde Academy's athletics communications operation into one of the most respected and recognizable prep school programs in the nation. Through innovation, relentless passion, and a deep understanding of sports information, Damon has elevated the visibility, professionalism, and storytelling surrounding Montverde Academy Athletics to an elite level.

As Sports Information Manager, Damon oversees media relations, communications, branding, statistics and content strategy for Montverde Academy’s varsity, junior varsity, and middle school athletics programs — representing approximately 500 student-athletes across one of the premier athletic institutions in the country. His impact has helped position Montverde Academy as a national standard in prep school athletics communications.

Known throughout campus as “The Voice of Montverde Academy Athletics,” Damon also serves as the public address announcer for numerous varsity sports, bringing energy, professionalism, and big-event atmosphere to every competition. His voice has become synonymous with Eagles Athletics, enhancing the experience for athletes, fans, and families alike.

Damon brings more than two decades of experience in sports information, communications, statistics, and game operations. Before joining Montverde Academy, he spent over six years as an independent contractor supporting sports information departments across Central Florida, including at UCF, Stetson University, Rollins College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Bethune-Cookman University. During that time, he contributed to major sporting events including the ESPN Events Invitational at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament at Orlando’s Kia Center.

His extensive professional background also includes serving as official scorer for professional and collegiate baseball organizations, including the Daytona Tortugas, the Single-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, as well as the Florida Collegiate Summer League.

Prior to relocating to Florida, Damon served as Sports Information Director at Yeshiva University and John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he helped generate national exposure for athletic programs through media coverage by major outlets including ESPN and USA Today. At John Jay, he spearheaded the original design and launch of the athletics department’s official website, helping modernize the school’s digital athletics presence.

A native of Queens, New York, Damon’s career in sports communications spans more than 50 colleges, universities, teams, and sports organizations. Throughout his career, he has served in numerous roles including statistician, official scorekeeper, public address announcer, broadcaster, and media relations professional. His first freelance opportunity came during the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament at the University of Rochester in 2003.

Beyond his communications role, Damon is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of sports media professionals. At Montverde Academy, he teaches a Sports Media elective course for Upper School students, where he provides hands-on experience and real-world insight into the industry. Under his guidance, students have gone on to independently produce sports coverage and multimedia content surrounding Montverde Academy Athletics.

Damon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from State University of New York at Cortland in 2002. While at Cortland, he served as a disc jockey for the campus radio station, sports editor for the student newspaper, and intern in the sports information office — laying the foundation for a career defined by versatility, creativity, and leadership.

Michael and his wife, Brandy, reside in Montverde with their cat, Marsh.
