Last weekend on Thursday - Sunday, February 23-26, 2017, members of the Montverde Aquatic Club competed at the Senior State Championships.
The Eagles competed against 81 swim teams (over 1000 athletes registered). Everyone fought hard and Montverde Aquatic Club earned 21 finals and took home 20th place in combined team score.
Montverde Aquatic Club swim team was represented by the following students: Chase DeJarnett, Peter Kiernan, Arthur Rocha, Julia Fidelis, Thiago Ferreira, Thomas Cavacas, Julia Leitao, Alzbeta Andrikova, Celia Campbell, Lucas De Oliveira, Joao Victor Correia, Gabriel Knaut, Matheus Barbosa, Pedro Passos, Taylor Turnquist, Kendall Lewin, Anna Bach, Aleksander Bredemeyer and Clara Ledo.  Way to go swimmers!
Head Coach Arilson Champam De Almeida was very proud of his swimmers.
"The entire MVAC are to be congratulated, they did an excellent job at the Senior State Championships performing well in both stroke and laps competition with the Elite swimming of the State of Florida. I have complete confidence and trust that MVAC swimming will continue to grow in each semester and evolve into superior quality and the results will be that the swimmers/athletes will become a solid and strong varsity swim team in a couple years that will compete and obtain the highest podium."
