In a record-breaking day for the Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy, four players were selected in the MLS SuperDraft on January 21, 2021.
Clemson midfielder Philip Mayaka went third overall to the Colorado Rapids. Mayaka will be joining SIMA alum and 2019 MLS Rookie of the Year Andre Shinyashiki in Colorado.
With the 24th overall pick, the New England Revolution selected University of Pittsburg forward Edward Kizza.
To round out the SIMA products being selected in the SuperDraft, the Columbus Crew nabbed both Clemson defender Justin Malou with the last pick of the first round (27) and Joshua Jackson-Ketchup in the second round (52 overall).
