Cooper Flagg had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds to go along with four assists, three steals, and five blocks as the Montverde Academy boys' basketball team defeated IMG Academy 80-55 in day one of the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference Sunshine Classic in the Nest on Thursday.

Montverde Academy started off the game with a 12-0 run and never relinquished the lead. They finished the first quarter with a 26-7 lead, and the Eagles cruised the rest of the way.

"I thought they played intense" head coach Kevin Boyle said. "They came off of a loss (against AZ-Compass in the season opener) which made our guys really hungry and wanting to prove that they're the best players in the country and they did a really good job playing really physical and aggressive and set the attitude of the game".

Asa Newell added 19 points, five rebounds and two blocks, while Liam McNeeley had 14 points, three rebounds and two assists.

"Feels great, great win" Newell said. "Great way to open up our home season for the fans and I feel like we dominated that game."
