Derik Queen and Sean Stewart recorded double-doubles on Monday evening as the Montverde Academy boys' basketball team sailed to an 84-26 win over 'Iolani School in the second round of the 'Iolani Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Queen had team-highs of 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Stewart recorded 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Fellow teammates Cooper Flagg and Christopher Johnson also notched double figures as Flagg had 15 points and Johnson 11. Additionally, each member of the Eagles scored at least two points in the win.
MVA led from start to finish. They up 20 by the end of the first quarter holding a 25-5 lead after eight minutes of play. MVA increased the lead in the second quarter and the Eagles were up 47-13 by halftime.
Montverde Academy shot 59 percent from the field as a team (35-for-59).
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday morning at 1:00 am (Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm in Honolulu) for a semifinal round game against Mount St. Joseph. The game can be seen via YouTube live stream free of charge.
