Hoover, Ala.-- The Montverde Academy baseball team split a pair of games on Saturday to end their Alabama trip 2-2 on the weekend. The Eagles lost 5-0 in the first game to North Ridge, before beating East Forsyth 2-0 to finish out the trip.
In the win over East Forsyth, pitcher Yulian Batista pitched a one-hit shutout. The only hit he allowed was an infield single to third base in the third inning. Otherwise, he struck out six and walked two in the win. The Eagles' two runs came in the third inning on RBI ground outs. Japhet Rosado grounded out to second to score Eric Correa. Prior to that, Jorge Bello grounded out to the pitcher, but Salvador Alvarez scored on the play.
In the first game of the day, AJ Goytia had two singles as the Eagles were limited to four hits.Alvarez and Edwin Garriga also had hits in the contest.
MVA returns home for a game on Tuesday against Lake Highland Prep at 7:00 pm
