The road to Naples starts in Montverde!
The Montverde Academy boys' lacrosse team has earned the No. 1 seed for the 2022 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) district playoffs.
The Eagles have received a first-round bye and will play at home in the semifinal round on Tuesday, April 12 against the winner between No. 4 Trinity Prep and No. 5 Lake Mineola High School at 6:00 pm. If MVA wins in the semifinal round, the Eagles will advance into the championship round and will host that championship game on Thursday April 14 at 6:00 pm. against one of four teams in the district playoffs include No. 2 Lake Highland Prep, No. 3 Bishop Moore, No. 6 The First Academy and No. 7 Foundation Academy.
The boys' lacrosse team enters the tournament at 9-5 overall, including a perfect 5-0 in the Citrus League, including the Citrus League championship.
The Eagles have outscored the competition by a combined 204-113.
If MVA wins the district tournament, the Eagles will get an automatic qualifier into the FHSAA's regional tournament which starts on Wednesday, April 20. Should the Eagles advance past the regionals, they will compete for the FHSAA state championship in Naples on the first weekend in May.
