The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) has announced that Montverde Academy has earned an at-large bid into the state's regional tournament.
The Eagles have earned the No. 6 seed in the eight team tournament and will play No. 3 Lake Highland Prep this Wednesday at 7:00 pm on the campus of Lake Highland Prep. If the Eagles win, they will play in the semifinal round of the regional tournament against the winner between No. 2 seed Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and No. 7 seed Bishop Moore Catholic on April 27 at 7:00 pm.
This Wednesday's regional quarterfinal round game against Lake Highland Prep will mark the third time the Eagles and Highlanders have met. In the other two meetings this season, both schools won one game each. MVA beat Lake Highland Prep 15-10 in the Citrus League championship on March 28, before the Highlanders defeated the Eagles 13-8 in the district championship last Thursday.
Montverde Academy enters the regional tournament with a 10-6 overall record this season, including an undefeated record in the Citrus League (5-0) and runner up in the FHSAA District 5 championship. The Eagles have outscored the opposition by a 233-126 margin.
