The Montverde Academy girls' volleyball team earned its first victory of the season by defeating South Lake High School 3-0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-11) at the Nest on Tuesday evening.

Thalita Marangon led the way with 10 kills and four digs, while Bailey Hollis had seven kills, 15 assists, three service aces, four digs and two blocks. Ana Julia Peixoto added eight kills, five service aces, two blocks and two digs. Luiza Manata had 12 digs, four assists and two service aces, while Taina de Lima Nunes had 18 assists and two kills.

The JV Gold team played earlier in the evening and won 2-0 (25-18, 25-22).

Luiza Tanaka-Aranda had nine kills and three digs, while Koryn Scott had eight kills and three service aces. Isabella Parra had 10 assists, while Isabela Ferreira had 11 assists and three digs.

The Eagles return to action on Thursday for a match against St. John Luthern at the Nest. The JV Gold will play at 6:00 pm before the varsity team plays at 7:00 pm.
