Montverde Academy outscored its opponent 20-3 in the first quarter en route to leading from start to finish as the MVA girls' basketball team defeated Lake Minneola High School 69-26 on Monday evening in the Nest.
The Eagles were led by Cori Allen with a team-high 12 points, while Chloe Sotell scored 11 points in the win. Lety Vasconcelos grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for MVA.
After establishing a comfortable first quarter lead, the Eagles, behind strong play by their bench, outscored Lake Minneola 17-11 in the second quarter as the MVA lead was 37-14 at halftime.
MVA continued to increase its advantage throughout the third quarter and got the lead up to just over the 35 point running clock threshold as the Eagles led by 36 (56-20) after three periods of play.
Overall, the Eagles shot fifty-eight percent from the floor in the game (26-for-45).
MVA is now 21-1 overall this season.
The Eagles are back in action on Thursday for a home contest against Riverview High School at 5:00 pm. The game is one of two girls' basketball games in conjunction with the annual Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT) this weekend.
