The Montverde Academy boys' basketball team defeated AZ Compass 58-46 in day two of the Nike EYBL Scholastic Nike Event in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles are now 9-0 this season.

In Saturday's win, Asa Newell had 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots, while Cooper Flagg added 12 rebounds, five rebounds and three blocked shots. Derik Queen came off the bench and offered 12 points and seven rebounds in the win. Robert Wright had seven points and team-highs of nine rebounds and nine assists.

The Eagles return to action a week from Monday, December 18 against The Cannon School on the first day of the City of Palms tournament in Fort Myers, Florida with tip off scheduled for 8:45 pm
