The Montverde Academy baseball team went a perfect 4-for-4 during spring break to win the 2023 Florida League High School Invitational in Sanford, Florida. The Eagles' success was highlighted by a win over the defending state champions from the state of Tennessee and a no-hitter in one of the other games. Below is a recap of each MVA game played during the week. Most recaps were written by MVA sdudents in Sports Media class.

March 13, 2023: Montverde Academy defeated East River High School 3-1

Cael Reish had a two hit - two run day for the Montverde Academy Eagles as they defeated East River High School 3-1 on the opening day of the tournament.

Jack Garvey received the win as after throwing three innings of one hit ball striking out two opponents as well.

AJ Goytia had a triple, a run and a run batted in, while Logan Chapman drove in a run.

March 15, 2023: Montverde Academy defeated Seminole High School 8-0

Senior pitcher Oscar Hernandez faced one over the minimum, allowing just one walk while striking out seven and pitched a no-hitter as the Montverde Academy baseball team defeated Seminole High School 8-0.

The Eagles are now 9-1 overall this season, and the no-hitter marked the second time this season a Montverde Academy pitcher tossed a no-hitter.

After a scoreless first three innings, the Eagles broke out with five runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. MVA then scored two more in the top of the sixth inning and another run in the top of the seventh inning for the 8-0 shutout.

Edwin Garriga went 2-for-3 in the win, while Anthony Cole went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs. AJ Goytia went 1-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

The win marked the fourth time MVA has pitched a shutout this season.

March 16, 2023: Montverde Academy defeated Farragut High School 10-0

Montverde Academy baseball won 10 - 0 against reigning Tennessee state champions Farragut High School. 

Anthony Cole, Eric Correa and Cael Reish each scored twice and had two runs batted in during the win. Reish added two hits, while Cole had a double in the win.

The Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take command.

Logan Bevis pitched five innings of shutout baseball and struck out five batters.

March 17, 2023: Montverde Academy defeated West Orange 8-2

Pitchers Matthew Heyl and Jack Garvey held West Orange to two runs over seven innings to help Montverde Academy win 8-2 in the championship game of the 2023 Florida League High School Invitational.

Heyl led the team with seven strikeouts and gave up two runs over five innings. Jack Garvey had three strikeouts and gave up no runs over two innings pitched.

Anthony Cole had three at bats and had two hits and two runs batted in. Eric Correa also had two hits and two runs batted in over four at bats.

The win over West Orange brought Montverde Academy boys' varsity baseball team's record to 11-1 and their next scheduled game is a home game on March 31 against Lake Nona High School.
