Montverde Academy baseball dropped game one of its best-of-three FHSAA Regional Semifinal round series on Friday night, falling 7-0 on the road at The First Academy.
The First Academy set the tone early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. After several scoreless frames, TFA added a run in the fifth before breaking the game open with three more in the sixth.
MVA was limited to three hits on the night, with Max Irving, Mauricio Zaa, and Andres Morillo each recording one.
Sid Goecke took the loss on the mound for the Eagles, going 5.0 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out six.
The Eagles will now turn their attention to game two of the series, scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at The First Academy. A Montverde Academy win would force a decisive game three immediately following, while a loss would end the Eagles' season.
