Montverde, Fla. (July 12, 2026) – Montverde Academy baseball added another Major League Baseball Draft selection to its growing tradition Sunday as recent graduate Max Irving ('26) was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 18th round (553rd overall) of the 2026 MLB Draft.
Irving becomes the latest Eagle to hear his name called on draft day after putting together one of the most productive offensive seasons in recent program history. The shortstop juggernaut helped lead Montverde Academy to a 17-10 record and the program's FHSAA Class 2A District championship since the 2023 season.
One of the premier hitters in Central Florida this spring, Irving led the Eagles in nearly every major offensive category,. He batted .474 with a .622 on-base percentage, collecting 37 hits, 12 doubles, seven home runs, 28 RBIs, 38 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases.
Over his two-year varsity career with the Eagles, Irving established himself as one of the most accomplished players in recent MVA history finishing his career with a .419 batting average, totaling 65 hits, 20 doubles, 10 home runs, 47 RBIs, 62 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases while earning a reputation as one of the state's top middle infielders.
His outstanding senior campaign earned him Orlando Sentinel All-Area Honorable Mention recognition following the season.
Irving is currently committed to continue his academic and baseball career at the University of South Florida. As a drafted high school player, he now has the opportunity to negotiate with the Dodgers before Major League Baseball's Augist 1 signing deadline. Should he choose not to sign, he would retain his commitment to the Bulls and remain eligible for a future MLB Draft.
