Montverde Academy girls' volleyball lost 3-1 to The First Academy on Thursday night at the Nest, despite strong efforts from Bailey Hollis, Naju Peixoto, and Paola de Chaverria Munoz.
Hollis had 11 kills, eight total blocks and 14 assists, while De Chavarria had 11 kills, three service aces, two blocks and 19 assists. Naju Peixoto added nine kills, two service aces, three blocks and five digs in the match.
The Eagles won the opening set 25-23, before falling 25-17 in the second set and 25-20 in the third set. After a back-and-forth battle in the fourth set, the visiting Royals escaped with a narrow 27-25 victory to seal the win.
Montverde Academy will be back in action on Monday, September 11 at Eustis High School at 6:30 pm.
