Five players scored in double-figures and the Montverde Academy boys' basketball team improved to 17-0 as the Eagles defeated Brewster Academy 91-58 on the second day of the 2024 Hall-of-Fame Hoophall Classic in Springfield Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon.

Kayden Allen, Cooper Flagg, Asa Newell, Derik Queen and Robert Wright all hit the double-figure mark in the Eagles' latest triumph.

Queen scored a team-high 18 points and had a double-double by adding a team-high 11 rebounds to his stat sheet. He also had six assists in the contest. Meanwhile, Asa Newell was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and had 15 points, while Flagg scored 11. Allen and Wright had 10 points each in the win.

Once again, the Eagles led the contest from start to finish. MVA led narrowly late in the first quarter, and gained a six point lead after one period to lead 18-12 after the first eight minutes of play. A decisive second quarter by the Eagles that saw them outscore Brewster 28-10 gave them a comfortable lead of 46-22 by halftime, en route to the win.

MVA held major advantages in the intangibles once again, including a 52-28 advantage on points in the paint, 24-8 on points off turnovers and 18-4 in fastbreak points.

The Eagles shot 58 percent from the floor (33-for-57), including 55 percent (6-for-11) from behind the three-point line.

The win also improves the Eagles' record in Nike EYBL Scholastic play to 7-0.

MVA returns to action on Sunday for day three of the event against Prolific Prep at 7:30 pm.
