Playing in its first home game since November 29, the Montverde Academy girls' basketball team defeated Southeastern Prep Academy 56-42 in front of the home crowd at the Nest on Friday evening.
The win was the eleventh in a row for the Eagles and eighteenth overall as MVA improved to 18-1 on the season.
Finley Chastain paced the Eagles with 17 points. She connected on five three-point field goals, including three in the first quarter to establish the lead. Jaloni Cambridge also notched double figures in scoring with 14 points, while Vivian Iwuchukwu added 11.
The visiting Falcons scored the first three points of the game before MVA countered with a 12-2 run to lead 12-5 midway through the first half and led the rest of the way.
MVA led 15-7 after the first quarter, and the Eagles were up 28-20 at halftime.
MVA kept the opposition at arms-length the rest of the way before the final buzzer.
The Eagles will have a few weeks off from live action, but return to the hardwood on Thursday, February 1 for a home game against Palm Bay High School at 7:00 pm.
