Twenty-First Annual MAIT Set for January 25 through January 27

Montverde Academy is prepared to host its 21st annual Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT) from Thursday, January 25th through Saturday, January 27 at the EdgeCenter for Sportsmanship and Wellness (better known as The Nest) where the Montverde Academy boys' basketball team will welcome in seven highly skilled boys' basketball juggernauts from around the country.

In addition to the No. 1 nationally ranked and currently undefeated Eagles, the seven other programs making the trip to southeastern Lake County include Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, NH), Calvary Christian (Fort Lauderdale, FL), Imani Christian Academy (Pittsburgh, PA), Oak Ridge (Orlando, FL), Prolific Prep (Napa, CA), Riviera Prep (Miami, FL) and The Rock School (Gainesville, FL). 

Thursday January 25th is the first day of the tournament with four games. The first game is at 1:00 pm with Brewster Academy going against Calvary Christian. Game 2 is at 3:00 pm with Prolific Prep dueling Riviera Prep. Game 3 at 5:00 pm is Oak Ridge vs. The Rock School. Finally Game 4 at 7:00 pm Imani Christian Academy will try to dethrone the undefeated Eagles. 

The second day of the tournament is on Friday 26th starting with Game 5 at 1:00 pm with the game one loser vs. game two loser. Game 6 at 3:00 pm will have the game three loser play against the game four loser. Then Game 7 at 5:00 pm will feature the game one winner vs. game two winner. And the final game of Friday is Game 8 at 7:00 pm and will feature the game three winner against the game four winner.

Saturday will also have four games at 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, with the latter game serving as the championship game.

Montverde Academy enters the tournament with a 19-0 overall record, and the Eagles have an average win margin of 30.4 points (85.1 - 54.7). MVA has been led in scoring, rebounding and blocks by Cooper Flagg at 16.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots per game. Derik Queen is second on the team in scoring and rebounding at 16.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Liam McNeeley is third in scoring at 12.7 points per game.

Online sales for Saturday's games are already sold out, and online sales for Thursday and Friday are expected to sell out very soon. Fans interested in coming to the event are encouraged to purchase their tickets now. A limited number of tickets will also be sold the day of the event, but they are available on a first come - first serve basis, so arrive early before they sell out.
