Montverde, FL (October 8, 2024) – Boys swim team member Lucas Paez has been named the Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 6, 2024.

Paez had a stellar performance in Montverde Academy's dominating 200-82 victory over Windermere Prep on October 3. The versatile swimmer won all four events in which he competed.

Individually, Paez took first place in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:00.53 and followed it up with another victory in the 400-meter freestyle, clocking in at 4:21.57.

In addition to his individual wins, Paez was integral to two relay team victories. He joined teammates Jayden Chan, Danilo Brito, and Heitor Tinoco to capture the win in the 200-meter free relay with a time of 1:39.78. Later, he teamed up with Brito, Tinoco and Paolo de Fabrique,  to win the 400-meter free relay in 3:46.64.

An eleventh grade student from Clermont, Paez not only exemplifies excellence in the pool, but outside the pool as well. He is an ambassador of Eight Waves, Vice President of Hands on Med, the swim team's representative of Arts & Athletics Leadership Committee and Treasurer of the Jewish Student Union.

Paez says his favorite subject at MVA is biology, and he aspires to work in the medical field someday.

Paez and the rest of the Montverde Academy boys swim team returns to the pool on Thursday, October 17 for the Citrus League Championship, where the Eagles will look to win the championship for the third year in a row.
