Twenty-six down, four to go! After another win on Saturday evening, the Montverde Academy boys' basketball team remains undefeated with just four regular season games remaining after the Eagles defeated Bartlett High School 80-55 to improve to 26-0 on the season.
All five starters scored in double figures, and the Eagles were led by Robert Wright with 19 points, followed by Liam McNeeley with 16. Curtis Givens and Cooper Flagg added 14 each, followed by Derik Queen with 13.
Once again, the Eagles led from start to finish. MVA led 16-10 after the first quarter, and the Eagles were up 38-28 at halftime. MVA increased the lead by another five points during the third quarter to lead 58-43 after twenty-four minutes of play, before adding further distance in the fourth quarter.
MVA committed a season-low four turnovers in the win, while forcing 15 on Bartlett, leading to MVA holding a 19-2 advantage on points off turnovers.
The Eagles next opponent will be Nike EYBL Scholastic foe Long Island Lutheran on day one of the Bob McKillop Invitational at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.
