Mason Eldridge scored three goals and had one assist to lift the Montverde Academy boys' lacrosse team to an 8-6 win over Winter Park High School in the 2024 season opener at Dan Newlin Injury Attorney Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Drew Glass added two goals and had two assists, while Tyler McTaggart had a goal and an assist. Camden Fisher added a goal and an assist.
Goalkeeper Sam Juhnke made 10 saves in the win, while Zander Brasher won 11 of 14 faceoffs in the game.
A close game throughout and MVA was up 4-3 at halftime and the game was tied 5-5 going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter MVA persevered, retook the lead, en route to the win.
"I think the guys stuck together and that was the big key," said head coach Chris Spaulding. "In the fourth quarter the guys came together to figure out and control the game to be more deliberate on offense."
The team's next game is Friday February 16th at Bishop Moore at 6:00 pm.
