The Montverde Academy boys' basketball team improved to 29-0 and are just one win away from a perfect regular season after earning an 83-58 win over Veritas Academy on day one of the Pete Hollis Showcase on Thursday evening in Greenville, South Carolina.
Liam McNeeley led the way with 21 points and a team co-high four steals, while Derik Queen had 19 points, seven rebounds and a team-high five blocked shots. Cooper Flagg added 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
The Eagles shot well, connecting on 53 percent from the floor (34-for-64).
MVA only trailed momentarily in the first quarter when they were behind 3-2, but otherwise led throughout.
The Eagles held a 46-16 advantage on points in the paint and 31-9 on points off turnovers.
MVA is back in action on Saturday for the final regular season game of the 2023-24 season when the Eagles face Orangeville Prep at 4:00 pm.
