Christian Borbely pitched a gem, but the Eagles failed to score a run as the Montverde Academy baseball team lost 1-0 to Bolles School in nine innings on the opening day of the 2024 Florida League High School Invitational on Tuesday afternoon in Sanford.

The loss was just the second of the season for the Eagles who are now 7-2 overall this season.

Borbely pitched the entire game and allowed one (unearned) run on four hits while striking out 10.

At the plate, the Eagles got one hit each from Rainer Garcia, Alan Hernandez, Arnaldo Gonzalez and Joevansky Velez in the game.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday morning for a game against IMG Academy at 10:00 am.
