With the weather beautiful and many supporters, including a large student fan base, in attendance for senior night, the Montverde Academy softball team defeated Trinity Catholic 10-0 via the 10-run mercy rule in front of packed bleachers at the Montverde Academy Softball Complex.
The win was the nineteenth of the season for the Eagles who are now 19-4 overall on the year.
MVA scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning to take command early. The Eagles scored another three in the bottom of the fourth to lead 8-0 heading into the fifth. Needing just two runs in the bottom half, MVA finished the task and went up by 10 to win the game.
Leila Susaia had a masterful game, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and five runs batted in. Meanwhile, Ari Jimenez, Colby Reish and Luna Taboas had two hits each. Elena Friedman added a triple in the win.
Nevaeh Williams earned the win, going 5.0 innings and allowing no runs on two hits while striking out six.
The Eagles will look for win number 20 on the season on Wednesday when they host Horizon High School at 6:00 pm.
