Rainer Garcia drew a bases loaded walk to drive in the winning run as the Montverde Academy baseball team defeated Citrus League foe The First Academy 5-4 in eight innings at Francisco Lindor Field on Friday evening.
The win improves the Eagles to 9-6 overall this season.
Federic Irving was 3-for-4 with a double and a run, while Arnaldo Gonzalez was 1-for-3 with a triple. Danati Fronduto finished 2-for-4 with a run batted in.
Christian Borbely started the game and pitched 5.0 innings and allowed two runs on six hits while striking out 10. Anthony Picciano earned the win in relief after going 3.0 innings and allowing one run on two hits.
MVA returns to the diamond on Tuesday April 9 for a home game against Trinity Prep at 7:00 pm.
