The Montverde Academy girls volleyball team picked up its fifth win of the season and fourth in a row as the Eagles defeated Windermere Prep in a five set thriller in The Nest on Tuesday evening.
After winning the first two sets (25-18, 25-15), MVA fell in sets three and four (20-25, 23-25) to go into a fifth set for the third time this season. And just like the other two matches, the Eagles won the fifth set by earning a 15-8 win in the deciding set to improve to 3-0Â in matches that go five sets this season.
Natalia Baquerizo led the team with 12 kills and two blocks, while Mirea Thederahn had 10 kills. Evy DeClercq added eight kills, four service aces and three blocks, while Jayla Forbes had seven kills and five blocks.
Isabella Parra added six service aces for MVA, and Vero Ruiz had 27 digs.
MVA's next match is Wednesday, September 11 at Lake Highland Prep at 6:00 pm.
*Earlier in the evening, the junior varsity team improved to 7-0 on the season after beating Windermere Prep 2-0 (25-17, 25-14).
