Montverde, FL (January 24, 2025) – Montverde Academy girls' golf standout Grace Xu has been honored by Florida Dairy Farmers as she has earned the organization's 2024 Miss Golf award following a record-setting season.
Xu's remarkable 2024 season was highlighted by her historic performance at the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Girls Golf State Championship on November 12 and 13. She opened the tournament with a blistering score of 62 (-9) in the first round, setting a new FHSAA girls' golf state championship record for the lowest single-round score in event history. She followed that up with a 69 (-2) on day two to finish with a total score of 131, which set another FHSAA state championship record for the lowest two-round total in event history.
Her exceptional performance was instrumental in Montverde Academy setting the FHSAA state championship record for the lowest two-round team score in event history, as the team finished with an impressive 567.
During the regular season, Xu demonstrated her consistency and talent by shooting under par in four events. Her best nine-hole round of the season came on September 24 at Legends Way, where she posted a 33 (-3). Prior to the state championship, she delivered another strong performance at the FHSAA District Championship on October 29, shooting a 71 (-1) in an 18-hole match at Continental Country Club.
Xu's accolades and record-breaking achievements cement her status as one of Florida's top high school golfers, and her recognition as the 2024 Miss Golf Award winner is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and exceptional skill.
Xu's recognition is the second time a Montverde Academy student-athlete has been recognized by Florida Dairy Farmers as the sport's top overall award. Girls' soccer player Jody Brown was named Miss Soccer in 2019 and boys track & field athlete Micah Larry was named Mr. Track & Field in 2022. Additionally, girls' track & field athlete Micayah Holland was named the 2A Athlete of the Year in 2022 and softball player Nevaeh Williams was named the 3A Player of the Year last spring.
