Game 5: Sagemont Prep over Riviera Prep 91-51 (Article written by student Adam Townsend)
Sagemont Prep beat Riviera Prep in 91-51 to start off day two of the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament in Montverde.
Sagemont Prep started off dominant on defense and being consistent around the arc leading to a 19-10 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Lions remained dominant and remaining on top the rest of the way. Sagemont Prep led 41-20 by halftime and 69-41 by the end of the third quarter.
Sagemont Prep shot a staggering 60 percent (18-for-30) from behind the three point line and held an overwhelming 33-9 advantage on points off turnovers.
The Lions were led by Patrick Liburd with 26 points and six assists. He connected on 8-of-13 from the floor, including 6-of-7 from behind the three point line. Anthony Knowles added 22 points in the win.
Riviera Prep was led by Jeremy Jenkins with 11 points and Myles Fuentes with 10.
Game 6: AZ Compass over Windermere Prep 61-48Â (Article written by student Adam Townsend)
AZ Compass Prep got the victory over Windermere Prep 61-48 in game six of the weekend's action
Windermere Prep's traditional offense style and zone coverage defense was not strong enough to keep up with AZ Compass.
The game started off tight with a two point differential at the end of the first with the Dragons up 16-14.
The Dragons found their footing in the second quarter outscoring the Lakers 19-6 over the second eight minute span.
AZ compass maintained its 15 point lead going into the fourth as the Dragons earned the consolation game win.
The Dragons held a commanding 38-20 rebounding advantage, including a 13-1 difference on the offensive end, leading to a 20-0 advantage on second chance points.
Kaden House led AZ Compass with 16 points in the win, while brother Kalek House had 11. Teammate Davis Fogle netted 10 for the Dragons.
Brandon Bass Jr. scored a game-high  19 points for Windermere Prep.
Game 7: CIA Bella Vista over Utah Prep (Article written by student Adam Townsend)
CIA Bella VIsta got a narrow win over Utah Prep with a 68-63 victory in the seventh game of MAIT.
The first quarter started off slow, but then sped up with a couple of back-to-back fast breaks. The two teams were only separated by three points with Utah Prep leading 16-13.
With both teams struggling to score Utah Prep and CIA Bella Vista traded the lead while staying within five points of each other throughout the second quarter. At halftime, CIA Bella Vista led 31-29.
The teams remained close throughout the third quarter with solid defense from both ends of the court keeping it a low scoring game.
In the last two minutes Utah Prep fought back to bring it to a three point difference with 12.4 seconds on the clock, but CIA Bella Vista came up the victors in the end.
CIA Bella Vista's Miles Sadler and Rokiem Green had 15 points each, and Jaion Pitt aided the pair with 13 points of his own.
AJ Dybansta gave Utah Prep a fighting chance with 33 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.
Game G2: Montverde Academy over Long Island Lutheran 73-70Â
The Montverde Academy girls basketball team defeated Long Island Lutheran 73-70 at the Nest on Friday evening in a game played in conjunction with the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT).
Five players scored in double figures in a balanced attack for the Eagles who are now 20-1 overall this season.Â
Aaliyah Crump scored a team-high 18 points, while Lourdes Da Silva Costa added 14. Amaia Jackson and Missy Odom had 11 each, while Saniyah Hall had 10 to go along with 11 rebounds.
The Eagles led most of the way. They outscored the visiting Crusaders 17-14 in the first quarter, before adding to the lead with a 26-15 difference in the second quarter to lead 43-29 by halftime.
Despite the three point win, the Eagles kept LuHi at arm's length most of the second half. The Crusaders closed out the game with a 10-2 run in the closing moments before time ran out.
LuHi was led by Olivia Jones with a game-high 30 points.
Game 8: Montverde Academy over Calvary Christian 62-55
After trailing the entire first half and most of the third quarter, Montverde Academy outscored its opponent 18-8 in the fourth quarter to come from behind to defeat Calvary Christian 62-55 in the final game of the night.
CJ Ingram led MVA with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Trent Sisley added 13 points in the win. Dante Allen added 12.
Cayden Daughtery led Calvary Christian with a game-high 18 points.
MVA took the lead with 3:43 to go in the game on a layup by Hakeem Weeks, as the Eagles closed out the game on an 11-4 run over the final four minutes.
