A new year, but the same results!
The Montverde Academy boys basketball team led from start to finish and defeated Southeastern Prep 81-39 at the Nest on Monday evening.
The win improves the Eagles to 9-2 on the season.
MVA led the entire way. Senior Trent Sisley scored a layup off the opening tip, and the Eagles cruised to victory from there.
Three players scored in double figures for the Eagles as the trio of Sisley, CJ Ingram and Hakeem Weems shot a combined 18-for-24 from the field to score a combined 45 points.
Weems shot 6-for-10 and had a team-high 16 points, while Ingram had 15 points behind 6-for-7 shooting. Sisley added 14 points in the win, while shooting 6-for-7 as well.
The Eagles held an overwhelming 49-19 advantage in rebounds, including a 40-13 advantage on the defensive end and a 9-6 advantage on the offensive end, despite the Eagles 60 percent shooting clip (31-for-52).
Weems had a team-high eight rebounds in the win, while Ingram and Sisley had seven each.
MVA is back in action this weekend at the LaPorte Invitational in LaPorte, Indiana. The Eagles will face Legacy Early College Friday at 5:45 pm and CIA Bella Vista on Saturday at 3:45 pm.
