Montverde Academy continued its strong start to the season with a dominant 7-0 victory over Parrish Community on Wednesday night at Dan Newlin Injury Attorney Stadium.
The Eagles (4-0-1) controlled play from start to finish, outshooting Parrish Community 24-3 and earning nine corner kicks while not allowing a single one on the defensive end.
Dominika Misuthova opened the scoring in the 22nd minute off an assist from Brianna Burkhalter, who then set up Lola Rey for MVA's second goal in the 30th minute. Marta Arbenina added a third goal in the 34th minute from Isabella Marin's pass to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead at halftime.
The offense kept rolling after the break. Rey netted her second goal of the match in the 50th minute from an assist by Isadora Santiago, followed by a strike from Kendall Seays in the 58th minute. Marin added a goal of her own in the 63rd minute, assisted by Sara Echavarria, and Arbenina capped the scoring in the 69th minute with her second goal of the night.
Rey led all players with six shots, while the Eagles' defensive unit recorded their third shutout of the season.
Montverde Academy will return to action on November 20 at 7:00 p.m. when it faces Brandon High School in the opening day of the Mississippi Showcase in Perkinston, Mississippi.
