The Montverde Academy girls basketball team opened play at the She Got Game Classic in Springfield, Virginia with an impressive 64-32 victory over Royal Crown on Friday, improving to 6-1 on the season.

Jamila Ray led all scorers with 15 points to pace the Eagles, while Mia-Elle Lieverst added 12 points, knocking down four three-point field goals. Kendall Perry chipped in nine points, while Jayla Forbes and Zaniyah Williams each contributed eight points in the balanced scoring effort.

The Eagles return to the court on Saturday for day two of the tournament, taking on Fort Erie International at 2:00 p.m.
