The Montverde Academy girls basketball team opened play at the Battle of the K Showcase with a 56-49 victory over Cresset Christian Academy on Friday in Kissimmee.
Jordan Speller led the Eagles with 20 points on efficient 8-of-15 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 from three-point range. Jayla Forbes added a strong double-figure performance with 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds in the win. Kendall Perry paced the offense with a team-high four assists.
With the victory, Montverde Academy improves to 3-1 on the season.
The Eagles return to the court on Saturday for Day Two of the Battle of the K Showcase against Cardinal Mooney at 12:40 p.m.
