The Montverde Academy girls basketball team earned a dominant 59-34 victory over Cardinal Mooney on Saturday afternoon at Central Pointe Christian Academy in Kissimmee, continuing play at the Battle of the K Showcase.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 4-1 on the season.
MVA delivered a balanced offensive effort, led by Jordan Speller, who posted 15 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Jamila Ray added 10 points and three assists, while Jayla Forbes recorded a near double-double with 10 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.
The Eagles were efficient on the offensive end, shooting an impressive 54 percent from the floor (26-for-48), while their defensive pressure held Cardinal Mooney to the lowest point total allowed by MVA girls basketball this season.
Montverde Academy will return to action on Thursday, December 11, when the Eagles travel to Washington, D.C., to face St. John's Collegiate at the National Capital Invitational Classic.
